The muses of La Musa: Julien Baker

Her previous band, Star Killer, tiptoed through the American music scene, but with “Sprained Ankle”, Julien Baker has caught everyone’s attention: her voice, the apparent fragility of her compositions and the naturalness with which she approaches raw folk make it impossible to ignore her. Born in Memphis and already at the age of twenty, Baker has managed to put together a confessional heart-rending album that uses practically no artifice capturing a voice and guitar in the best tradition of indie folk. A more than promising debut that has everybody talking about this extremely young singer songwriter.
