Mestre Bergman presents a new discovery. A new London band.
Finding a niche in the London music scene is no easy task, but three piece Arctic Lake have managed to do just that with their elastic sound. With the ability to both pile on the energy or skirt just above the sound-waves with a laid-back style throughout, Arctic Lake’s sound is guided by singer Emma Foster’s voice. Showcasing her ability to create her own melody to sing off of is their stellar new track “Limits”.
With flowing hushed tones, “Limits” carefully crafts a mellow and spirited sound. Fueled by a strong vocal performance Arctic Lake take listeners on a ride that seems to be limitless in its expansive echoing moments. Clocking in at just over three luminous minutes, just when the song seems to come to a close it kicks back in to end on the elevated note it alludes to throughout.
Today, mestre Bergman goes to the UK to introduce us to The Death of Pop, a band loosely based in London but now spread around the UK. They are a family affair of three brothers and two cousins who make music of a lush, textured quality. Bringing together a shared love of shoegaze and C86, as well as early 90’s indie like Ride and The La’s, theirs is a sound with a firm nod to their heroes but one that never borders on plagiarism. They bring an urgency and guitar-pop sensibility to the genre, always letting the dreamy melodies and guitar hooks shine through. They will be playing this weekend at FIB.

Benjamin Clementine es sense cap mena de dubte un dels artistes que més sorprendrà al públic del festival per diversos motius, la seva impressionant veu i poderosa interpretació, la seva original manera de cantar i una de les presències més imponents de l’escena internacional, només amb un piano i la seva veu.
Segons el mateix Benjamin, les seves influències són molt dispars: Erik Satie, Jake Thackray, Antony Hegarty, Leonard Cohen, Nina Simone, Jimi Hendrix, Leó Ferré i Luciano Pavarotti.
Tot i que al nostre país és encara un autèntic desconegut, la progressió d’en Benjamin Clementine està sent meteòrica. Ara mateix l’anglés resident a París acaba de firmar un contracte amb Virgin EMI Records, Barclay Universal i la seva discogràfica independent Behind. El seu primer àlbum es publica al gener de 2015 i estem realment orgullosos de poder anunciar-te aquest gran talent.
With only one album recorded under the name Torres and a concept of rock that is raw and desperately intense, Mackenzie Scott has managed to become one of the rough diamonds of the new American scene. Put in the league of the PJ Harvey of “Rid Of Me”, with whom she shares a highly explosive vision of song-rock, this Nashville artist follows in the footsteps of artists such as Scout Niblett, getting the most out of the least and armed on many occasions with nothing but her voice and her guitar, she stirs up indie with confessions and pulsating electricity.
Mestre Bergman travells once more to London to introduce us to a brand new band.: The Bohicas. The same intuition that led Domino to chase after bands such as Franz Ferdinand and Arctic Monkeys has led them to notice The Bohicas, a London four-piece band that has taken shrill rock, saturated guitars and the influence of art-rock filtered through the darkness of powerful blues and punk. Only one EP and the impact of sings such as “XXX” and “Swarm” robust explosions of punk rock with hints of kraut, have led them to support Franz Ferdinand at several concerts and to become a sort of impossible cross between the Velvet Underground and the Black Keys.
Mestre Bergman and his Productora de Pardals have recently travelled to Israel to meet a brand new band. With only three EPs, Garden City Movement has become one of the bands on the new electronic music scene to watch. This trio from Tel Aviv produces hypnotic beats and dreamy melodies for endless sunsets, as can be appreciated on tracks such as “Move On” and “Terracotta” that have tens of thousands of listens. The world blogosphere already has an eye on them, Pitchfork, Hype Machine and The FADER have praised them and they have played with bands such as Cults and SOHN. They have even debuted in Boiler Room! What more can you ask for? What about a third EP? “Modern West”, was released on BLDG5 Records in April and puts them firmly on the map of avant guard electronic soundscapes.
Si per separat ja eren del més destacat i interessant que ha donat el hip hop als últims anys, l’aliança d’El-P i Killer Mike al projecte Run The Jewels ha esdevingut pel seu propi dret en un dels esdeveniments de la dècada. Un tàndem entregat al rap fosc, experimental i ple de ritmes industrials que, després d’estrenar-se amb un fantàstic debut homònim, s’ha superat amb “Run The Jewels 2”. Més combatius, enèrgics i densos, productor i raper li han donat una bona sacsejada a la música negra amb l’ajuda de Zack de la Rocha (Rage Against The Machine) i Travis Barker (Blink 182), i han obert una nova via de diàleg entre l’electrònica i el hip hop.
