Introducing…SPARKLING

SPARKLING from Cologne, Germany was formed by brothers Leon and Levin Krasel, joined by their friend Luca Schüten on Bass. Shows all around Europe made them write their multilingual debut album „I Want to See Everything“, released in August 2019, that features languages German, English and French.

Hailing from a city that birthed the likes of Krautrock, and with LCD Soundsystem’s Al Doyle and Hot Chip’s Joe Goddard on production reins for their upcoming EPThis Is My Life / Das Ist Mein Leben / C ́est Ma Vie’

Favourite Gig: Hot Chip

Tonight Razzmatazz plays host to British band Hot Chip as they present their brilliant seventh album, ‘A Bath Full of Ecstasy’ (2019). Alexis Taylor, Joe Godard, Owen Clarke, Al Doyle and Felix Martin have been making us dance non-stop for nearly two decades, and the list of electronic pop hits they’ve produced is long: ‘Ready for the Floor’, ‘Over and Over’, Boy from School’, ‘One Life Stand’, and so many more. For this new album they’ve come up with more fantastic songs to regale us with, such as ‘Melody of Love’, the band’s new instant classic.

Music by Bergman: Holy Fuck

Holy Fuck have always been happy to plow a distinctly lone furrow. Never ones to chase the limelight or hop on any genre-wagon that happens to be passing by, they’ve played by their own rules for the past part of 15 years and five albums. It’s for that reason that Holy Fuck have become one of the Canada’s finest, and most influential, exports, with their widescreen, technicolour, crescendo-heavy and highly danceable sound often finding itself imitated, but never bettered.

It’s been a bit since we’ve heard from Toronto noise-makers Holy Fuck. Their last full-length album was 2016’s Congrats and they followed that up with an EP, Bird Brains, the next year, and today they’re back with a new song, “Luxe,” which is a collaboration with Hot Chip’s Alexis Taylor.

Vida Festival 2019

Last year during the fifth anniversary of the Vida music festival, they announced that British band The Charlatans would be headliners for the 2019 edition, and since then the international festival, which takes place in natural surrounds in nearby Vilanova i la Geltrú, has carried on bringing in more Anglo-based pop, rock, electronic and folk acts.

For example, you’ll also get to see veteran band Madness, who have been mixing pop, punk and ska in their eternal hits for some 40 years. Also among the first confirmed are house-pop from Londoners Hot Chip; magic folk with hints of Balkan sounds from Beirut; a new, sharper and more powerful sound from American artist Sharon Van Etten, presenting her new album; punk-pop from American band Superchunk; Él Mató a un Policía Motorizado, bringing alternative rock from Argentina; folk songs from Australians Stella Donnelly and Didirri; pop singer-songwriter Joan Colomo from right here in Catalonia; and elegant electronica from Catalan artist Carla.

Vida 2019 is on from Thursday, July 4 to Sunday, July 7 in the woodsy area of the Masía d’en Cabanyes in Vilanova i la Geltrú.
