The muses of La Musa: King Princess

American singer/songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist King Princess delivers her soulful vocals over warm, atmospheric synth production inspired by influences like Perfume Genius, Nick Cave, Beyoncé, and Dolly Parton.

King Princess has released new song “The Bend”, co-produced with Aaron Dessner, as part of NME and Bose’s C23 mixtape that will also feature Flo Milli, 070 Shake and others.

The muses of La Musa: 070 Shake

With her soaring voice, Kanye West affiliate Danielle Balbuena, AKA 070 Shake, has a knack of investing productions with boundless freedom. She cracks West’s 2018 track Ghost Town wide open with a yearning, melodic nostalgia, and on her 2020 debut Modus Vivendi, the New Jersey-born rapper croons through everything from forlorn synthpop to bass-heavy rhythm.

On the heels of her successful album tour 070 Shake shares a new visualizer for the album track, “Blue Velvet”, directed by her creative companions, C.O.R.E. The new visual directly follows her highly-anticipated sophomore album, You Can’t Kill Me, released to widespread acclaim from critics and fans alike via G.O.O.D. Music/Def Jam Recordings earlier this month.

Favourite Gig: 070 Shake

070 Shake is really ahead of her time with Modus Vivendi and that’s probably on purpose. Its sound and execution live on another planet, somewhere far away from here.

Though it’s said Shake is a hip-hop artist, it’s best to not box her into any particular category to truly understand what type of artist she is, as she really shows off her range freely on Modus Vivendi.  The rapper sponsored by Kanye West will present today her first album, Modus Vivendi, in La (2) de Apolo.
