Hit of the week: D’Angelo “Unshaken”
D’Angelo’s latest single “Unshaken” has been officially released. The song first appeared on the Red Dead Redemption 2 video game soundtrack.
D’Angelo’s last new music was the 2014 release of his album Black Messiah. Additional contributors to the Red Dead Redemption 2 soundtrack include Willie Nelson, Rhiannon Giddens, Josh Homme, Nas and Daniel Lanois.
The muses of La Musa: Tirzah
Let’s talk about the cause and effect factor encapsulated in Tirzah’s music: if Arca says he loves her songs and admits that he has listened to Devotion 20 times on the run while walking around London with goosebumps, it means that the balance between emotion and experimentation in Tirzah Mastin’s music is simply perfect. If her childhood friend, travel companion and unconditional producer on this first album is Mica Levi, aka Micachu, an exquisite instrumental depth is assured. If in 2010 Tirzah was already militant (“I’m not dancing, I’m fighting”, she sang on her collaboration with Micachu), in 2018 she is empowered: “Don’t raise your voice to me”, she now retorts on Go Now. If her name is the Hebrew word for “she is my delight”, and her first album is called Devotion, and she is compared not only to James Blake and also to D’Angelo, it means that she is not just another artist. If Tirzah has released the most stimulating debut of the year in the UK, we’ll just say it.

‘La fuerza irresistible’ (2016) és el primer disc de Delafé, nou projecte musical d’Oscar D’Aniello després de la seva aventura de més d’una dècada amb Delafé i Las Flores Azules. Al costat del seu aliat Dani Acedo han passat els últims mesos elaborant les 11 cançons que formen part de l’àlbum. Primer produint i gravant amb Paco Loco a El Puerto de Santa Maria, i després mesclant a Nova York amb el guanyador d’un Grammy Tim Latham, que ha treballat entre d’altres amb artistes com De La Soul, Erykah Badu, D’Angelo o Black Eyed Peas. El resultat és una autèntica liquadora de sons que planeja per diversos estils sempre abraçant l’esperit de la música negra. Un arsenal de cançons trencapistes i vitalistes que consoliden la seva versatilitat. El concert comptarà amb la participació d’alguns dels convidats que participen en el disc, com Helena Miquel (Las Flores Azules) i Carlos Cros.
Les versions d’il Dottore: Takuya Kuroda “Everybody Loves Sunshine”
L’any 1976 Roy Ayres publicà el seu disc “Everybody Loves Sunshine” on s’incloïa una cançó amb el mateix títol. L’any passat el japonès Takuya Kuroda publicà “Rising Son” on s’incloïa una versió de la cnçó de Roy Ayres que també havia versionat anteriorment D’Angelo. El japonès que toca la trompeta està acompanyat a les veus per José James. Il Dottore ha triat aquesta versió jazzy per felicitar-nos aquests nadals.
