Mark Foster was a jingle writer. He wrote commercially for brands like Honey Bunches of Oats and Verizon. But Foster had bigger dreams for himself, and he knew that he had a lot to tell the world. So, he enlisted drummer Mark Pontius and friend/bassist Cubbie Fink to help him bring his songs to life. Together as Foster & The People, which evolved into Foster the People, the musicians released their debut song “Pumped Up Kicks” on September 14, 2010.

Hit of the week: Foster the People “Sit Next to Me”
Since their 2011 debut, Torches, Foster the People have been putting out alternative rock tracks with catchy hooks and danceable beats. However, if the singles they’ve released so far from their third studio album, Sacred Hearts Club, are any indication, that’s all about to change. The band dropped another new song , titled “Sit Next to Me,” and it continues to paint Sacred Hearts Club in the same colors that all of their most recent releases have. It’s a bright, uplifting, and shamelessly fun dance tune that finds equal inspiration in psychedelic 60s music and the most prominent pop trends of today.

“Tras su aclamado éxito: “Pumped Up Kicks”, convertido en un éxito viral en el año 2010 que les hizo girar por multitud de salas y festivales, la banda estadounidense de teen-indie pop formada en Los Ángeles, confirma actuación en Barcelona. El 13 de enero de 2014, la banda lanzó su single “Coming of Age”, acompañado de un interesante vídeo que recrea un mural utilizando su estilo surreal-abstracto que le caracteriza y que fue portada de su álbum “Supermodel”. Una gran oportunidad para disfrutar de esta banda que promete una actuación muy especial.” Esta noche en Razzmatazz.
Music by Bergman: Gang of Youths
Mestre Bergman intoduces a brand new Australian band: Gang Of Youths. Music should bring perspective to life, and Australian quintet Gang Of Youths has turned into a phenomenon back home with this approach. They first made waves with 2013’s “Evangelists,” which set the stage for their full-length debut album, “The Positions”, which received acclaim internationally from The Guardian, Stereogum, Rolling Stones Australia, and more as the band supported the likes of Vampire Weekend, Sky Ferreira, Foster The People and Manchester Orchestra on the road. It’s all because “The Positions” examines one of life’s darkest realities with unmitigated and unwavering honesty: the illness of singer David Leaupepe’s girlfriend at that time, when he was 19. He then just started writing some songs for her to listen to in the hospital. They went to record the album in New York with producer Kevin McMahon (Swans, Rhett Miller, Titus Andronicus), and it came out as a document not only told the story of his now ex-wife’s bout with the disease, but the simultaneous disintegration of their relationship. Arenal Sound: The Kooks
Cuando hablamos de The Kooks, hablamos de una de las bandas más mediáticas de la década pasada. Su peculiar estilo rompió exitosamente en la escena musical de hace casi 10 años con Inside In/Inside Out (2006) ¿Quién no recuerda temazos de la talla de Naive o She Moves In Her Own Way? Pero el límite aún no estaba ahí. The Kooks volvió a conseguir triunfantes números gracias a Konk (2008), disco con el que los británicos se reafirmaron por notables temas como Always Where I Need To Be o Shine On. Listen (2014) es su nuevo disco y ofrece un estilo muy diferente al que The Kooks acostumbraba. Pese a ello, no parece que vaya a cabrear mucho a los más puristas dado el buen rollo y el ritmo que transmite. El nuevo sonido The Kooks fusiona el funky y el r&b con el blues, el soul y la electrónica, recordando por momentos a sus colegas
