Music by Bergman: Strawberry Guy

Liverpool is producing some of the most exciting new musical artists in the UK right now, with Her’s and Pizzagirl amongst others putting the indie spotlight on the city. Alex Stephens aka Strawberry Guy dropped his excellent woozy debut dream pop single ‘Without You’. Since then the track has gone on to have nearly 700,000 plays on YouTube which is amazingly impressive for a self-release, without the PR and label machine behind it.

Moonlighting as a live keyboard player for The Orielles, Stephens has been getting a taste for tour-life and is gearing up to take Strawberry Guy live – watch this space! With many more unreleased tracks and a forthcoming EP release on the horizon, we’re really excited to hear more music and watch Strawberry Guy bloom. Strawberry Guy is for fans of Beach House, Tame Impala and Yellow Days. Dynamic pair Audun Laading and Stephen Fitzpatrick are both outsiders from sleepy coastal towns several countries apart but have established themselves as Her’s on the banks of the Mersey.

Fitzpatrick possesses a swerving, low rasp endorsed by Julian Casablancas (The Strokes) and engineered by Matt Berninger (The National).

Coupled with wave after wave of luscious, Beach Fossils-esque jangle pop and the striking aesthetics denoted within, it’s a refreshingly modern take on the beach-scuzz exploration of the ’80s.

Dreamy, hazy and yearning for escape with every jangle or croon, Her’s are the summery angst everyone – even the happiest of souls – can embrace.
