Best Covers: Guy Gerber & Desire ‘Can’t Get You Out Of My Head’

Desire is a Canadian electronic music band from Montreal, formed in 2009. The band consists of vocalist Megan Louise and producer Johnny Jewel (a former member of Chromatics and Glass Candy). They covered Kylie Minogue’s hit Can’t Get You Out Of My Head with Guy Gerber.

The muses of La Musa: JOON

The electronic solo project from Maltese singer-songwriter and producer JOON (Yasmin Kuymizakis) in April 2020 joined LA-based record label Italians Do It Better, to release her debut album in summer 2021. Yasmin is also the co-founder of the Malta Sound Women Network, a voluntary organisation that aims to bring like-minded women together through a shared knowledge of skills in music, sound technologies, sonic arts and production.

The muses of La Musa: Glüme

Glüme. LA-based artist’s DIY approach to old school Hollywood glamor. She recently signed to Italians Do It Better, making her label mates with Chromatics and Glass Candy with whom she shares a penchant for bittersweet and melodic synth-pop, the perfect backdrop for a struggling ingénue. Today she debuts “What Is A Feeling,” taken from her debut album The Internet.

Best Covers: Desire ‘Bizarre Love Triangle’

Desire have shared a crisp, joyous cover of New Order’s ‘Bizarre Love Triangle’. The group are signed to Italians Do It Better, and will support Chromatics on their epic European tour this summer. Grappling with New Order’s lovelorn lyricism, their clinical, ice cold take on ‘Bizarre Love Triangle’ is a neat update on the classic single.

Music by Bergman: Desire

Desire’s self-titled debut is a smouldering ache — saturnine synthesized pop about heartbreak & infinite longing, late nights by the telephone & break-up letters smeared by tears.

Johnny Jewel discovered singer Megan Louise performing at a club in Montreal. So transfixed was he by her voice that he elected to mirror his Portland Suite 304 studio and create a second recording room in Quebec. With the addition of Jewel’s longtime collaborator Nat Walker (Chromatics, Symmetry) on drums & synthesizer, the part-American, part-French Canadian band was born.
Desire is melancholic pop grandeur — the soundtrack to new love that feels like the end of the world. Desire, just one of the many italo-leaning dream pop acts featured on Johnny Jewel’s Italians Do It Better label, have shared ‘Tears From Heaven’, their first new single in nine years.
