Kendrick Lamar is officially back in the music business, announcing his return by sharing a new track off his new album Mr. Morales & The Big Steppers. Just less than a week before the album drops, Lamar has also released the accompanying visuals to the track “The Heart Part 5.” His long-awaited fifth studio album has a first week projection increase to 400,000 and is expected to debut at No. 1 in the U.S. upon release.

The muses of La Musa: Joy Crookes
Born and raised in Elephant and Castle, Joy Crookes musical journey has garnered Amy Winehouse and Lauryn Hill comparisons. The daughter of a Bengali mother and an Irish father, she grew up listening to an eclectic mix of genres – everything from Nick Cave, to King Tubby, Kendrick Lamar and and as a result she’s curious, passionate and music obsessed – traits that creep into her own creations at every opportunity. Divus Julius presents: Thundercat
Thundercat forms a cornerstone of the Brainfeeder label; he released “Golden Age of Apocalypse” (2011), “Apocalypse” (2013), followed by EP “The Beyond / Where The Giants Roam” featuring the modern classic ‘Them Changes’. He was later “at the creative epicenter” of the 21st century’s most influential hip-hop album Kendrick Lamar’s “To Pimp A Butterfly”, where he won a Grammy for his collaboration on the track ‘These Walls’ before releasing his game-changing third album “Drunk” in 2017. In 2018 Thundercat and Flying Lotus composed an original score for an episode of Golden Globe and Emmy award winning TV series “Atlanta” (created and written by Donald Glover).
Thundercat has shared another track from his forthcoming album ‘It Is What It Is’. Titled ‘Dragonball Durag’, it follows up on lead single ‘Black Qualls’ in previewing the full-length, which drops on April 3rd.

Hit of the week: The Internet “Roll (Burbank Funk)”
It’s been nearly three years since The Internet dropped their Grammy-nominated album, Ego Death. In that time, a number of its members have struck out on their own to much success — in 2017, both Syd and Steve Lacy released Fin and Steve Lacy’s Demo, respectively. Lacy also earned acclaim for his contributions to Kendrick Lamar’s DAMN. masterpiece.
Now, all of The Internet have reconvened for a new single which features a duet by Syd and Lacy. Dubbed “Roll (Burbank Funk)”, it’s a warm and intoxicatingly funky song ideal for hot summer nights spent on the dance floor. Per a statement, the track channels “shades of 70’s Earth Wind & Fire, Deee-lite’s “Groove is in the Heart”.
