Mavica is composer and guitarist, Marta Casanova, originally from Cartagena and resident in London, where she is currently preparing her debut EP ‘Gone’, a collection of songs that has already taken her to perform in Barcelona, Madrid, Murcia and even Berlin. But it is in the British capital, where Mavica studies music and production and where the young artist has found the place to finally materialize her debut. Folk pop songs with influences that go from Bon Iver to Sufjan Stevens or Amy Winehouse to Ben Howard. On October 29 Mavica debuted in Barcelona, opening for Roo Panes (UK) at the Moritz Factory, the artist dazzled the audience with her unmistakable voice and catchy melodies. Tonight she presents her present her first-ever EP, ‘Gone’ at L’Auditori.
Els herois dels 80 Simple Minds, banda liderada per Jim Kerr i Charlie Burchill i autors del clàssic ‘Don’t You Forget (About Me)’ tornen a Barcelona per presentar ‘Acoustic’ (2016), disc on revisen algunes cançons de la seva llarga discografia. Aquesta nit a l’Auditori dins del Festival Mil·leni.
They started off in London in 1969, and soon King Crimson were considered one of the pioneers of progressive rock, as they were one of the pillars of the genre and fundamental support for its place in the world of music. With the lovely Robert Fripp at the helm (the only member who’s survived all the irregular stages of the band), King Crimson have released 13 albums, including the latest, 2003’s ‘The Power to Believe’. In 2014 they kicked off a new phase of tours and concerts that brings them to Barcelona. Today and tomorrow at L’Auditori.
El britànic Jake Bugg, ha construït una sòlida carrera que va començar als 12 anys quan va aprendre a tocar la guitarra. Inspirat per artistes com Don McLean, Johnny Cash o The Beatles, va començar un parell d’anys després a compondre els seus propis temes. Ara, amb només 22 anys i després d’estar nominat al Mercury Music Prize i als Brits, presenta el seu tercer disc, ‘On my one’ (2016), una nova mostra del seu pop rock de guitarres.
A més, una de les noves sensacions de l’indie britànic Blossoms, que acaben de publicar el seu disc de debut, faran de teloners. Aquesta nit a L’Auditori dins del cicle Amplificats.
From Oxford comes folk-pop band Stornoway, with their only concert in Catalonia, which is part of the That’s all folks!/Amplificats del Auditori concert series. They present their third album, ‘Bronxie’ (2015), where they combine simple rhythms, clear music and danceable melodies full of acoustic pop guitar with well-oiled vocal harmonies. At last, in concert in Barcelona!
La banda Nottingham liderada per Stuart Staples, convertits en uns clàssics contemporanis, ens visiten per presentar el seu desè disc, ‘The waiting room’ (2016), que han gravat tres dels seus membres originals (Staples, Neil Fraser i David Boulter), al costat del baixista Dan McKinna i el bateria Earl Harvin. Tindersticks van començar la seva marxa en 1991, dos anys abans de debutar discogràficament amb un àlbum homònim en el qual ja van mostrar molts dels trets distintius que han marcar la seva trajectòria. Amb arranjaments excelsos i la veu de baríton de Stuart Staples, les seves cançons es llancen per les sendes de Gainsbourg i Hazlewood, per donar forma a una proposta embriagadora carregada d’emoció i romanticisme. Aquesta nit el Guitar Festival els presenta a L’Auditori.
La banda granadina Los Planetas surt de gira per presentar nou material, el poderos ‘Dobles fatigas’ (2015), el seu nou EP després de gairebé cinc anys de silenci discogràfic. Un treball que uneix pop piscodélic, rock i flamenc a l’estil del mestre Morente amb el que ja ens teníen acostumats en les seves últimes composicions. Avui a l’Auditori.
