Sydney-based EDM producer Dave Winnel is the latest to perform for triple j’s Like A Version segment, offering his take on Toto’s 1982 hit ‘Africa’.
Winnel was joined in the studio by Rob Edwards, Jack Robert, ANDRÉ and KLP, the latter two handling vocal duties while Winnel manned a rack of analogue synths, Edwards performed keyboards and harmonies, and Robert delivered electronic percussion on a pad setup.
The Lime Cordiale boys gave us a real treat this morning in the Like A Version studio with a throwback to an old school Aussie anthem. Their cover of Divinyls “I Touch Myself” has Lime’s catchy hooks written all over it, which are set to take over the world.
Julia Jacklin has officially released her dreamy cover of The Strokes hit ‘Someday’. Having originally recorded her version of the song for Triple J as part of their Like A Version series, Jacklin has released her slowed down studio version of the 2001 indie anthem.
The release comes as a break in touring for Jacklin who has just completed a run of sold-out headline shows in the UK and Europe earlier this year in support of her sophomore record, Crushing.
Californian skate punk royalty FIDLAR graced the triple j Like A Version studio to deliver a raucous performance. The band performed ‘By Myself’, the lead single off their latest release, Almost Free. They also treated us to a reimagined version of Billie Eilish track ‘xanny’.
