Ed Nash of Bombay Bicycle Club has covered classic Tears for Fears ‘Mad World’ alongside Liz Lawrence – the single is in aid of Samaritans, which receives a higher volume of calls around Christmastime.
Less dreary than the version made famous by Gary Jules in Donnie Darko, this is a more chipper interpretation that reflects the indie sensibilities of both Liz Lawrence and Ed Nash’s solo work, as well as that of his band.

The London-based band were joined by singer Liz Lawrence for their stripped-down take on the dance track, which they recorded during an appearance on BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge yesterday (February 27). The song originally appeared on Disclosure’s debut album ‘Settle’
After being dropped by her label ahead of the release of the debut album ‘Bedroom Hero’, Liz Lawrence has had the time and space to find herself.
Her second album ‘Pity Party’ embraces her lo-fi folk past but also brings it into the here and now with satisfying pop elements. It’s also a bit of a ‘fuck you’ to those who said she wasn’t good enough.
