Maremagnum Fest 2017

La segona jornada d’aquest nou festival gratuït al costat del mar començarà amb l’actuació de Maïa Vidal (19 h), cantant i compositora que barreja de manera eclèctica el folk, l’electrònica i la música del món per crear un estil singular i que tocarà cançons del seu tercer disc, ‘You’re the waves’. Després serà el torn del trobador techno Joe Crepúsculo (20 h), que no ens deixarà ni un minut de calma presentant el seu nou àlbum, ‘Disco duro’ (2017), on rebaixa una mica les revolucions techno del seu últim disc (no gaire, no patiu). Tancarà la jornada la diva xilena Javiera Mena (21 h), que llueix estilismes d’estrella del pop i s’entrega a la col·lecció de hits de pop sintètic infecciós que ha anat publicant desde que va debutar amb ‘Esquemas juveniles’ (2006) i sobretot amb ‘Mena’ (2010), col·lecció de hits sense fi. El 2014 va publicar el futurista ‘Otra era’ (2014).

Minimúsica 2017

Minimúsica is one of these kids’ activities that parents mark in red on their calendar and start new WhatsApp groups for, to find out who has tickets. This year the music festival for children has moved to Poble Espanyol, which, in addition to being big enough to host the varied programme of events, will on Sunday 2 be transformed into a city built just for kids, where they can run and play in the streets and squares without their parents having to worry about safety or cars coming along.

The music part is of course the foundation of the festival, so kids have access to all kinds of music to decide what they like and form their own opinions as well as enjoying all live music has to offer. The line-up this year features headliners El Petit de Cal Eril, Maïa Vidal, Pau Riba, and Los Ganglios. Other big draws are Candela y Los Supremos, the Big Band from the Escola Concepció school, and Miqui Puig DJ, among many others. The artists perform on stages tailor-made for the little ones as far as the size and volume of the music are concerned.

Minimúsica is a global festival, so you’ll also find plenty of activities related to science, cooking, technology and art. Something new this year is the Experiences Table, in the Poble Espanyol theatre, where families can discover aspects related to their kids’ learning and growing experiences, like dealing with emotions, schooling, body language and nutrition. And speaking of nutrition, you won’t find the typical kids’ menu at the festival; instead grown-ups and children eat the same gastronomic offering with healthy options that help kids discover different foods and flavours.

Babies and toddlers will have their own space with games adapted for kids up to age three, also equipped with an area for adults to relax, feed their offspring and change their nappies. Another new feature is the Market Km 0, where you can see what small local companies dedicated to the world of children have to offer, from clothing to toys and books.

Les muses de La Musa: Maïa Vidal

La seva música, com el seu historial personal, és una barreja eclèctica de gèneres que entreteixeix el folk, l’electrònica i diverses músiques del món per crear un estil nou que ella ha batejat com Eclectro-Pop.

Després d’haver girat pel món amb els seus primers dos discos, la jove autora torna a l’escenari amb un electro-dúo: una mescla poderosa de bateria electrònica i sons digitals amb els dolços tons d’arpa, piano i una veu angelical que arriba des del somriure. Maïa Vidal és la nostra musa de la setmana.

Festival’Era 2016

Quarta edició del Festival’Era, concepte de festival rural de música alternativa i electrònica emplaçat a una idíl·lica masia del Gironès. La Masia de Can Gascons (Llagostera) es convertirà en l’indret perfecte per a gaudir d’una jornada inoblidable de música.

L’austríac SOHN aterra com a cap de cartell a terres catalanes per presentar per primera vegada a Espanya el seu aclamat disc ‘Tremors’. Estarà rodejat d’artistes consolidats del panorama nacional com la tornada als escenaris de Hola A Todo El Mundo, presentant el seu nou disc ‘Turn out the light’, Maïa Vidal arriba com artista revelació de l’any passat també presentant el seu últim treball ‘You are the waves’, així mateix ho farà el català Joan Colomo amb ‘Sistema’. Amb la col·laboració del programa musical i de suport a bandes emergents tornarem a gaudir de la presència del duet electrònic The Suicide Of Western Culture i d’una de les bandes emergents del moment, Baywaves. L’aclamat productor anglès Julio Bashmore es presentarà amb el seu últim disc sota el braç ‘Knockin’ boots’, un treball que es va col·lar entre els millors discos d’electrònica del 2015. L’acompanyarà, tot tancant el festival, el carismàtic Marc Piñol. El cartell es completa amb els barcelonins Inspira de Jordi Lanuza presentant el seu nou disc ‘Greta’ i, com ja és habitual, amb un recull d’artistes emergents que fan del segon escenari un punt únic per conèixer noves propostes musicals: Sorry Kate, Ran Ran Ran, Twin Drama i els anomenats Baywaves, tots ells presentant els seus últims treballs acabats d’editar.

White Summer 2016

White Summer, a festival of current trends that’s been held on the Costa Brava since 2012 and that combines music, shopping, gastronomy, art and shows in one space, comes to Barcelona for the first time. Five stages host all kids of artists, from up-and-coming musicians to acrobats and circus artists who dance on air.

Music highlights include Maika Makovski, a hypnotic performer who writes, sings and acts, presenting her new album, ‘Chinook Wind’ (2016); and American artist Maïa Vidal, a Barcelona resident, with her third record, ‘You’re the Waves’ (2015), a mix of electric folk, electronica and world music.

Rhythm and beat are provided by Markooz, Spanish champion Beatbox artist known internationally for his personal style and creativity when it comes to producing rhythms, melodies and sound effects… with his mouth. You’ll also see saxophonists Mark & Martin Duo performing classics of jazz via a curious dialogue between them; Brodas Bros, a company of hip-hop, urban culture and dance with a master class on the history of hip-hip dance and music.

Yldor Llach rediscovers the bicycle with his astounding acrobatics on two wheels and creates unusual images to surprise audiences; the Estampadas company fuses dance-theatre and aerial techniques with different supports to conquer unusual spaces; and Las Rojas are in charge of making you crane your neck to watch their magical aerial acrobats with hanging fabrics. Finally, Joana Sardà offers a singular performance where she paints a mural accompanied by live music. Tonight and tomorrow at l’Antiga Fàbrica DAMM.

Les ones de Maïa Vidal

Nascuda a California, filla de pare franco-espanyol i mare germano-japonesa, Maïa Vidal porta els últims sis anys de la seva vida compartint residència entre Barcelona, Paris i Nova York. Vivència que atorga una part innegable d’inspiració i sonoritat a la seva música. Després de viatjar per Europa, Japó, Sudamerica i els Estats Units ara presenta el seu tercer disc ‘You’re the waves’ (2015). Comparteix cartell amb Fur Voice, projecte de David Gracia, productor electrònic murcià establert a Barcelona que factura una proposta que barreja estructures de la cançó pop amb una electrònica abstracta, estimulant i fosca. Curtcircuit la presenta avui a la sala Bikini.
