Marissa Nadler tends toward the moody and ethereal, layered angelic vocals with a dark undercurrent in Allessi Brothers cover. For “Seabird,” off her forthcoming EP The Wrath of the Clouds (a companion piece to last year’s full-length The Path of the Clouds) she ups the energy a bit, turning this soft-rock hit into a swooning indie-pop number.

Best Covers: Sharon Van Etten “New York, I Love You But You’re Bringing Me Down”
Sharon Van Etten reportedly hit the studio late last year to begin work on her follow-up to 2014’s impressive Are We There LP. In the meantime, she’s collaborated with artists like Lee Ranaldo, Maggie Rogers, Marissa Nadler, and Michael Cera (yup), in addition to contributing to the Twin Peaks reboot and reissuing her debut album. Now, she’s back with yet another new song to help pass the time, this time a cover of LCD Soundsystem’s “New York, I Love You But You’re Bringing Me Down”.
Filmed as part of BBC’s classical music concert series, BBC Proms, Van Etten was backed on the cover by the Heritage Orchestra for a performance at London’s Royal Albert Hall. The LCD cut is a fitting choice for the series, as this year’s theme is “New York: Sound of a City”.

El mestre Bergman ens presentarà a les bandes Quilt i Mass Gothic. El dream folk de Marissa Nadler
Marissa Nadler, arriba de Boston Massachusetts, i se la coneix com cantautora de dream folk encara que el seu repertori i registre musical viatgen motl més enllà d’aquest estil. La seva veu sedosa i soprano de sirena fetillera es fusiona, per moments, amb una ambientació una mica sinistra i gòtica amb referències a poetas com Edgar Allan Poe. Va gravar les seves primeres cançons als 15 anys. Publicà el seu primer àlbum Ballads of Living and Dying l’any 2004. D’aleshores ençà, ha publicat cinc àlbums, entre els quals destaca Songs III: Bird on the Water (2007), amb el que fou nominada als premis PLUG l’any 2008 com “Millor Cantant del’Any” i“Millor àlbum Americà del’any”. Aquesta nit a La2 de l’Apolo presentará el seu últim àlbum July publicat enguany.
