Local Bands: The Handclappers

The Handclappers are from Barcelona, though you would never think so seeing the apparent easiness with which they mix funk, post-punk and echo bands such as !!!, exploiting all the potential of sinuous bass and broken rhythms. Dance and funk Catalan-style to conquer the dance floors and make the crowds freak out. The band formed from other bands such as Miau Miau and Without started in 2011 and has been singled out by several specialist media as one of the names to watch out for on the Barcelona underground scene. After performing together with bands such as Clean Bandit, they continue to dispatch their organic and sensual concept of rhythm in songs like “Up.In.Ahead” o “Subscribers To The Mystery”.

Lorely Rodriguez, més coneguda com a Empress Of, que nascuda a Honduras i crescuda a Brooklyn s’ha fet un nom gràcies a la seva habilitat per recuperar trossos del pop dels vuitanta i els noranta i reinventar-los entre produccions imaginatives, sintetitzadors punyents i ritmes descarnats és una de les protagonistes d’aquesta nit de Primavera als Clubs al Barts, que es completa amb la canadenca Jessy Lanza, que ha aconseguit posar d’acord a bona part de la crítica per assenyalar a la d’Ontario com a sorprenent talent del pop electrònic i Daniel Gon, que a més de desplegar les seves habilitats com a músic al capdavant de bandes com Miau Miau, Without o The Handclappers també és un habitual de les cabines i bars de Barcelona.
