Divus Julius presents: The Veils

It’s been seven strange years since New Zealand-based indie legends Veils’ last and sixth studio album Total Depravity, and Finn Andrews has a new double LP to show for it. …And Out Of The Void Came Love is the result of this tumultuous period of injury, isolation and new life…

The single is a rich, luxurious delight – delivered with a preacher-like intensity that recalls Nick Cave on the pulpit, and cloaked in an anthemic statuesque finery with sweeping strings and shimmering, sparkling instrumentation. This is a grand presentation: an ebbing and flowing sonic embrace with an endless horizon and a celestial glory.

Divus Julius presents: Yumi Zouma

Starting life as a long-distance home-recording project, Yumi Zouma shot to blogosphere fame in 2014 following the release of  their four-track ‘EP I’ and it’s lead single “A Long Walk Home For Parted Lovers”. By the time ‘EP II’ arrived a year later, the group had begun playing live, touring with the likes of Jamie xx, Tei Shi, and Lorde.

In 2016, the band released their debut full-length album, Yoncalla, after a week at Philippe Zdar’s Motorbass studios in Paris. Their second full-length, Willowbank, arrived in 2017 as a more organic take on the electropop of their debut.

The band completed a trilogy of EPs with the release of ‘EP III’ in 2018, before the band’s third album, Truth or Consequences, was released in March 2020, after the band signed with U.S. label Polyvinyl Records. Now Yumi Zouma shared their latest single “In The Eyes Of Our Love,” previewing their upcoming album Present Tense.

Music by Bergman: Leisure

Leisure is made up of the New Zealand music industry’s shining stars, and its quiet heroes. They’re writers, producers, video editors, solo artists, and members of huge Kiwi bands: Goodnight Nurse, Kids of 88, Kidz In Space. As individuals, they’ve worked with acts like Benee, Maala, Bailey Wiley, and Openside.

Leisure’s music is well suited to these global music hotspots. Its funk-inspired, 90s-influenced rhythms have slick vocals and electronic inserts perfect for an afternoon DJ set on a Berlin rooftop.

After two albums and last year Ep Leisure unveiled their brand new singles ‘Take Me Higher’ and  ‘Mesmerised’. The song channels the kind of smooth, lounge music vibe that the group has made their own over the past few years.
