Having flown the nest at 17 to pursue a career as a jazz singer in London, Nadine Shah is well known for her formidably individual tone and fearless approach to songwriting, as she holds nothing back with her politically infused lyrics. Influenced by artists such as Nina Simone, The Beach Boys, Dolly Parton, Frida Kahlo and Arthur Russel, her sound has often been described as a blend between PJ Harvey and Nick Cave, with her brooding, intensely atmospheric cocktail of stylish gothic pop and jazz-kissed indie rock nodding to the likes of Anna Calvi and Richard Hawley. 

Following 2017’s ‘Holiday Destination’, Nadine Shah’s fourth album ‘Kitchen Sink’ is set for release on 5th June via Infectious Music, and she’s now sharing a new track.

The muses of La Musa: Keeley Forsyth

Born and raised in Oldham in the north-west of England, Keeley Forsyth first made her name as an actor, but while the creation of music has been a constant feature in her life, she’s taken the long road to its release. A deeply intuitive and singular musician, she began writing several years ago, accompanying herself on harmonium and accordion.

The songs comprising Keeley Forsyth’s debut, an intimate document of personal change, are, she states simply, “like blocks of metal that drop from the sky.” The image’s severity is indicative of the album which provoked it. With its minimal arrangements placing her recollections and dissections of sometimes harrowing experiences front and centre, Debris showcases her elemental voice and an outpouring of candid, haunting lyrics detailing the seismic ruptures which take place behind closed doors.

The muses of La Musa: Nilüfer Yanya

Taking her inspiration from iconic songwriters such as Nina Simone and Jeff Buckley as well as modern influences Conan Mockasin and Rosie Lowe, Nilüfer’s music incorporates the city’s urban edge with beautiful wandering guitar lines, downtrodden soulful and jazz flickered melodies, on top of minimalist and atmospheric beats.

Il Dottore escull la considerada millor versió de la història de la música segons els lectors de la revista anglesa NME. La banda anglesa Muse va versionar la cançó “Feeling Good” que va popularitza Nina Simone . La cançó fou escrita per Anthony Newley i Leslie Bricusset per un musical l’any 1965.
