The muses of La Musa: Zaz

Isabelle Geffroy, best known for her artistic nickname Zaz, will perform today at Festival Cruïlla. Her first album Zaz broke record sales in her native France, and the song Je Veux placed her among the most successful artists of her country.

Today she returns to Parc del Fòrum to present the songs of her new album Effet miroir. in what will be her only performance in Catalonia during the summer.

The sophisticated sounds of Glass Animals

Today  we will have the opportunity to see Glass Animals’ sophisticated live act in an indoor venue in Barcelona.

This recently announced concert by the Oxford quartet in Barcelona precedes their participation in Primavera Sound, when they will perform on one of the stages of the Parc del Fòrum.

Their first album, “Zaba”, opened the doors of the Olympus of electronic pop to them and was a hit in the United States, where they became even more popular than in their native England. With their sophisticated cross between bedroom pop and melancholic electronic music still marking the path to follow, the band fronted by Dave Bayley has slightly increased the pace on “How To Be A Human Being”, the second album that they release on Wolf Tone (Adele’s producer Paul Epworth’s label) and change of direction with which their sound becomes brighter and more upbeat. Tonight at Sala Apolo.

Festival Cruïlla 2016

Cruïlla Festival stakes its reputation on value for money – early tickets for 2016 went on sale in 2015 at just €45, more than a bargain for three nights of music. This year Cruïlla is on from July 8 to 10 in the Parc del Fòrum, and is one of Bacelona’s top summer music festivals, with its programme full of prejudice-free eclectic music. Confirmed acts for this year demonstrate that. Headliners Alabama Shakes from the USA are disciples of Janis Joplin who bring back a classic soul and blues style, and have won the support of rock biggies including Jack White. Also on the line-up is one of the great singer-songwriters of our times, Irish musican Damien Rice, and you’ll also be treated to Ana Tijoux, a new and strong voice out of Chile, who will blow away stereotypes and push the limits of hip hop.

Cruïlla also brings unexpected musical meetings, such as the coming together of Basque musician Fermin Muguruza and the New Orleans Basque Orkestra, which link the musical traditions of Euskadi and New Orleans in an unprecedented fusion of sounds playing Muguruza’s repertoire.

Spanish musicians are well represented also, with big names such as Enrique Bunbury (from Aragon), who brings his electric live show full of hits including songs from his former band Héroes del Silencio; the epic sounds of Madrid’s Vetusta Morla; Catalans Love of Lesbian, presenting their new album, ‘El poeta Halley’ (2016); 091, a legendary group from Granada who are back together to share the best of their collection of songs; and Zoo, a revelation of Valencian and Catalan music.

Cruïlla is also the world’s first cashless festival, allowing attendees to pay for everything from food to merchandising using a PayPal account linked to a smart wristband. Cruïlla takes place at Parc del Forum from July the 8th to July the 10th.

Le Classique: The Avalanches “Since I Left You”

El gran Mariscal Mauro està més eixerit que un gínjol al conèixer la notició de la confirmació dels llegendaris The Avalanches en el pròxim Primavera Sound i tria la seva cançó “Since I Left You” com le classique d’aquesta setmana.

Els australians The Avalanches s’incorporen a la programació de la setzena edició de Primavera Sound. La banda actuarà al Parc del Fòrum el divendres 3 de juny i també amb motiu de la festa de clausura del festival el diumenge 5 de juny a la sala Apolo. El llegendari grup va meravellar el món l’any 2000 amb “Since I Left You”, una obra d’artesania sonora construïda a partir de més de 3.000 samples. Ara, després de més de quinze anys des d’aquell sorprenent debut, els de Melbourne estan preparats per tornar a la palestra.

John Legend, la veu que acarona l’ànima

Catifa vermella per donar la benvinguda, per primer cop a Barcelona, a John Legend, entre les grans eminències del soul, rhythm & blues i hip-hop del nou mil·lenni i autor de quatre discos –cinc si hi afegim un treball a mitges amb The Roots– mereixedors del qualificatiu de «clàssics moderns». Nascut a Ohio l’any 1978, amb cinc anys ja cantava gospel i tocava el piano amb un gust fora de l’habitual. Amb 19, va deixar petjada en un disc excepcional –The Miseducation, de Lauryn Hill– i, després d’exercir de session man i compondre per artistes com ara Alicia Keys, Janet Jackson i Kanye West, el 2004 va començar una d’aquelles carreres en solitari que des del primer minut s’anuncien de llegenda. 

L’avalen set milions de discos venuts, una prestatgeria plena de premis (quatre Grammy inclosos) i rècords com el d’haver creat una cançó, All of me, escoltada 8,5 milions de cops durant una setmana a Spotify. Qui s’hagi rendit ja al seu talent sabrà que John Legend és una d’aquelles veus que t’acarona l’ànima. I si existeix algú que encara no n’ha sentit a parlar, pot donar per fet que sortirà del Fòrum amb un d’aquells calfreds propis dels amors a primera vista. Perquè John Legend és un d’aquells artistes de qui és tot un privilegi ser-ne contemporani. Avui dijous 6 de novembre a l’Auditori del Fòrum a les 21h.

Off Week Barcelona

Proyectual presenta la seva sexta edició de la Off Week Barcelona amb una sèrie d’events que tindran lloc en el Parc del Fòrum entre el 12 i el 15 de juny. Per segon any consecutiu,els esdeveniments se celebraran en dos escenaris diferents: el Gran Auditori i El Caminet. Es realitzaran dos esdeveniments diaris el dijous 12, el divendres 13 i el dissabte 14 de forma simultànies amb inici al migdía i final a mitjanit, 1h i 3h de la matinada respectivament. El diumenge, en canvi, hi ha preparat una cloenda molt especial amb esmorzar típic català per a tots els assistents des de primera hora fins les 23h. Hi hauran unitats limitades de tickets combinats per poder accedir cada día a ambdòs esdeveniments. Els dos espais disposaran d’una segona ubicació coberta dins del “Parc del Fòrum” per, en cas òe condicions adverses, mantenir l’esdeveniment previst.

Primavera Sound 2014: el cartell

Avui s’ha desvetllat el gran misteri del Primavera Sound. A les 20.30h diversos cinemes de l’estat han projectat el passi del curt de més de vint minuts Line-Up dirigit a Detroit per Àlex Julià. El film també s’ha pogut veure online i, poc a poc, han anat apareixent els noms dels artistes que els dies 29, 30 i 31 de Maig seran al Parc del Fòrum de Barcelona. Els primers noms en aparèixer han estat els següents: Godspeed, Chvrches, Television, Haim, Majical Cloudz, Nine Inch Nails, Queens of the Stone Age, Darkside, Slowdive, Metronomy, Kendrick Lamar, The National o Caetano Veloso. També s’han confirmat altres noms com els de !!!, Black Lips, Blood Orange, Chromeo, Cloud Nothings, Cut Copy, Disclosure, Foals, Glasser, Jagwar Ma, John Grant, Real Estate, Sky Ferreira, Slint, Spoon, St Vincent, Standstill, Dum Dum Girls, Midlake, Moderat, Mogwai, Refree, Spoon, Temples, Warpaint o The War on Drugs: Moltes d’aquestes bandes són les que sonen habitualment a Ville à Dômat.
