Bjork 4-hour DJ Set for Sónar

Today at 8pm, Björk will perform an exclusive 4-hour DJ Set for Sónar 2017’s Opening Night, on the Fira Montjuïc’s SonarHall stage (this performance requires a separate ticket from the SonarPass and Delegate Pass). This will be a rare opportunity to enjoy an intense and highly anticipated sonic adventure of disparate genres that have influenced her career, stretching from experimental electronica and modern grime, through to traditional music from around the world. The Icelandic artist typically shies away from orthodox dance floor trends, focusing more on an abstract and kaleidoscopic sound, incorporating inspirations from a wide range of sound sources and displaying innovative nuances to her continuously challenging and exuberant musical discourse.

“Björk Digital” will open on the same day, Wednesday 14th June, at Barcelona’s Contemporary Culture Centre (CCCB) and will run until September 24. Björk Digital has been conceived as an immersive exhibition using Virtual Reality to understand and experience first-hand the unique creative universe of Björk. The exhibition combines performance, cinema, installation, video and interaction and includes several audiovisual pieces produced with the latest technology in the field of Virtual Reality. It will showcase several pieces of her work made in collaboration with artists including Michel Gondry, Spike Jonze, Alexander McQueen, Nick Knight, Stéphan Sednaoui; and recent collaborators Jesse Kanda, Andrew Thomas Huang, Warren du Prees and Nick Thornton Jones.

“Bjork Digital” is a co-production between the CCCB and Sold Out, in collaboration with Sónar. Furthermore, Björk will also give a talk at Sónar+D, the Digital Culture and Creative Technologies Congress, which this year focuses on the latest advances in Artificial Intelligence and Virtual Reality applied to the arts. Björk will speak about her close ties to the audio-visual world, a central theme of her exhibition, on Wednesday June 14, the day exclusively for Delegate Pass holders.

Spike Jonze enamora amb Her

Aquest divendres 21 s’ha estrenat una de les grans pel·lícules americanes de l’anys passat, la darrera obra del guionista i director Spike Jonze, Her. En ella, Jonze (Being John Malkovich, Adaptation, Where the Wild Things Are) ens presenta a Theodore, que en un futur pròxim s’ha convertit en un escriptor solitari, recent sortit d’una relació. Aquest, aconsegueix un nou sistema operatiu controlat per una IA, i aviat comença a adonar-se, no sense sorpresa, dels conflictius sentiments que apareixen entre ell i la veu femenina del sistema.

Guanyadora del premi al millor guió als Globus d’Or celebrats al gener, la pel·lícula, a més de recolzar-se en el treball de Jonze, aconsegueix utilitzar de forma immillorable un gran repartiment d’actors, especialment de Phoenix i Adams. Així, Joaquin Phoenix torna a impressionar amb una de les millors interpretacions de l’any que increïblement no ha obtingut la nominació pels Premis de l’Acadèmia. A més de Phoenix, la pel·lícula es beneficia del treball realitzat per Amy Adams, que ha tancat aquest 2013 com un dels seus millors anys de la seva carrera, amb obres com American Hustle, Man of Steel i la mateixa Her. Destaca també l’extraordinària feina realitzada per Scarlett Johansson, actriu que posa veu al sistema operatiu i que aconsegueix fer-se amb l’afecte de tota l’audiència. Completen el repartiment Rooney Mara i Olivia Wilde, que porten a terme una feina més que correcte amb els seus papers més secundaris.

Amb Her, Jonze torna a entrar en primer pla al panorama actual de l’indústria cinematogràfica, aconseguint a més el reconeixement com a director de primer ordre, que se suma a la seva ja consagrada faceta de guionista. Després de la recent campanya de premis a les que s’ha sotmès les millors pel·lícules del 2013, i on Her ha obtingut diversos premis i reconeixements de primer ordre com els premis a millor pel·lícula i director que li va entregar el National Board of Review (NBR), o les tres nominacions als Globus d’Or, la pel·lícula encara ara, amb certa tranquil·litat, els darrers dies abans dels Oscars, on opta al premi de 5 categories (Pel·lícula, Guió, OST, Cançó i Direcció Artística), sabent-se ja una de les millors i més reconegudes pel·lícules de l’any. Si heu d’anar al cinema durant aquesta setmana, no ho dubteu, Her no pot ser millor elecció.
