The muses of La Musa: Maya Hawke

The 24-year-old daughter of Uma Thurman and Ethan Hawke is an actor with chameleonic instinct, capable of channelling a certain charisma through a lens of vulnerability that belies her years.

Hawke stepped outside of her celebrity family and the hit show that made her known across the world though, launching her own music career, making her name truly her own. With a debut album, Blush, already under her belt, Hawke cements her spot in the music industry with ‘Sweet Tooth’, the second single from her upcoming album Moss.

4Ever Songs: Kate Bush ‘Running Up that Hill (A Deal with God)’

Kate Bush wrote and produced this song for her 1985 album Hounds of Love, and it was released as that album’s lead single. That song was the ethereal yet catchy ‘Running Up that Hill (A Deal with God)’, a song which has only grown in popularity over the years. Thanks to its use in films and TV shows such as The OC and more recently, Stranger Things, it has become one of Kate Bush‘s signature songs.

Divus Julius presents: Djo

Stranger Things star Joe Keery a.k.a. Djo  dropped last year a 12 track album that sees him lean heavily into the dreamy psych rock he previewed with the release of his early singles. Joe wrote all the songs on Twenty Twenty and played guitar, drums, and bass for the release, in addition to singing on it.

Now, he returns with a psychy funk pop extravaganza, ‘Keep Your Head Up’

The band led by Stranger Things‘ Finn Wolfhard released their Spotify Singles session, which includes the original “Wasting Time,” Calpurnia’s latest single, and a cover Weezer’s “Say It Ain’t So.”

The version is so good even Rivers Cuomo & co. approved it. Weezer shared the song on Twitter, writing, “Digging @calpurniaband’s cover of Say It Ain’t So.”

Hit of the week: The xx ‘I Dare You’

UK three-piece indie outfit The xx have shared the music video for their track ‘I Dare You’ which stars a collection of well known models and Millie Bobby Brown of Stranger Things.

Helmed by Raf Simons, chief creative officer at Calvin Klein, as well as photographer Alasdair McLellan and fashion editor/stylist Ellie Grace Cumming, the music video possesses a unique and trendy retro style.

Adding to the video’s visual aesthetic, Simons helped cast a number of respected models and actors, including the co-star of Stranger Things Millie Bobby Brown, Ashton Sanders and Michael Jackson’s daughter Paris Jackson.

‘I Dare You’ is found on the third album from The xx titled ‘I See You’, released in January 2017.

While composing the excellent soundtrack to Netflix’s original sci-fi series Stranger ThingsSurvive’s Kyle Dixon and Michael Stein often turned to the German electronic group Tangerine Dream as a source of inspiration. The duo has now received the highest compliment they could have asked for, as Tangerine Dream have shared two covers from the Stranger Things soundtrack.
