Since their debut in the early 2000s, The Coral proved to be one of the most consistent bands in the U.K. retro-rock scene thanks to their knack for crafting sneakily good hooks.
The Coral have announced two new albums, Sea of Mirrors and Holy Joe’s Coral Island Medicine Show, and shared the first single from the former, “Wild Bird,” via a music video. Both albums are due out September 8.
Thom initially rose to prominence as one half of sibling duo MMODE, alongside his sister Lucy Gaffney. After sharing stages with the likes of Bill Ryder-Jones, The Coral, Jake Bugg, Bastille, Hudson Taylor, Catfish & The Bottlemen and The Kooks, the pair decided to focus on their own solo projects.
Following a string of acclaimed singles over the last two years, Thom Southern makes his triumphant return with ‘She’s So Precious’, his first release of 2022. Incorporating elements of shoegaze and traditional indie-rock, ‘She’s So Precious’ offers a promising taste of what to expect from Thom’s self-produced debut album, Plaza.
Since 1996 (for early adopters), and 2002, when the UK band The Coral released their eponymous first album (which wasted no time climbing the UK charts, resting at number 5). Their brand of psychedelic Rock/Folk has helped other bands to emerge within the new style. To date, the band has released eight studio sets, their last being Distance Inbetween (2016).
The Coral have releases their newest album, Move Through The Dawn and today they will play it in concert at Sidecar.
