Music by Bergman: Rat Boy

After making waves with his debut album Scum and the seven-track Civil Disorder, Rat Boy has teamed up with Tim Armstrong for his new project Internationally Unknown.  Separated by 30 years of age and the Atlantic Ocean, Rat Boy and Armstrong sound like the very definition of an odd couple. But they immediately connected on their first phone call, through a shared love for mixing the visceral energy of punk with hip-hop beats. In many ways, it’s hardly surprising: both musicians share similar influences and often reflect on their upbringing in their lyrics. The pair met in Los Angeles and immediately captured three demos on their first day together, with members of The Interrupters backing them on bass and drums. Rat Boy has diverse influences which echo, at various points, The Clash, Beastie Boys, The Prodigy, Rebel MC, Green Day and Run DMC. Standout tracks include the title track which contrasts manic verses with an anthemic downtempo hook; the aggy street-punk rush of opening track Chip on my Shoulder. Tonight in concert at La Nau.

Cruïlla 2017

El festival Cruïlla, un dels festivals de referència de l’estiu a la ciutat, celebrarà la seva vuitena edició els dies 7 i 8 de Juliol al Parc del Fòrum apostant com sempre per un cartell eclèctic al marge de barreres estilístiques.

Després d’una primera tongada d’artistes anunciats, el Cruïlla ha confirmat les actuacions de Jamiroquai, que presentarà el seu nou disc en el que serà l’únic concert a Espanya de Jay Kay; Pet Shop Boys, que presentaran en directe ‘Super’ (2016); a més dels directes de The Prodigy, Two Door Cinema Club, Die Antwoord, Ryan Adams, Little Steven & The Disciples of Soul (projecte de Steven Van Zandt), Ani Difranco, Residente (meitat de Calle 13), el pioner de l’electro-swing Parov Stelar (si el seu nom no us sona els seus ‘hits’ segur que sí), la francesa Jain (autora de l’èxit televisiu ‘Come’), i AronChupa (factòtum d”I’m an Albatraoz’).

Pel que fa als artistes estatals, destaquen Txarango, Exquirla (el nou projecte que uneix el ‘cantaor’ Niño de Elche i el grup de rock instrumental Toundra), Enric Montefusco, La Raíz, Dorian, Nicola Cruz, El Petit de Cal Eril, Pau Vallvé, Carlos Sadness, Neuman i Oques Grasses, entre d’altres.

S’afegeixen als ja confirmats The Lumineers, banda de Denver convertida en una de les referències de la nova Americana i que presentarà el seu segon disc, ‘Cleopatra’ (2016); Los Fabulosos Cadillacs, que porten 25 anys com una de les bandes més importants del rock en espanyol; Youssou N’Dour, figura clau de la música africana, l’alemany Patrice, creador del Sweggae, presentant el seu nou disc, ‘Life’s blood’ (2016) o l’MC Kase.O, que torna al Cruïlla per presentar nou disc, ‘El Círculo’.

El Cruïlla manté també la seva oferta de concerts més llargs que l’estàndard dels festivals, 90 minuts per als caps de cartell i 60 minuts per a la resta d’artistes i grups.

FIB: The Prodigy

Liam Howlett, Maxim Reality and Keith Flint carry on doing whatever the hell they like. They carry on firing blasts of furious electronica, carnal and tremendously danceable. Doesn’t matter what you want to call it, big beat, electro punk , rave or breakbeat, their sound is a punch that burn the dancefloor and that’s made to be heard at full volume. And now they return with a new album, “The Day Is My Enemy”.

Who hasn’t surrendered themselves to hits like “Voodoo People,” “Firestarter”, “Breathe” or ‘Smack my Bitch Up”? With big tunes, screeching sounds, demented frequencies and brazen lyrics they have won a reputation as one of the greatest live bands in the world.

The Prodigy have turned live electronica into a battleground in which they fight on their feet with furious energy and seeing them at FIB 2015 will be a chance to come face to face with these live heavyweight champions of the world. Today at 1.10h.

El FIB comença aquest proper dijous 16 de juliolamb noms tan convincents com Blur, Florence + The Machine, The Prodigy, Portishead, Noel Gallagher’s Flying Birds, Los Planetas, Vetusta Morla o FSS (la recent aliança entre Frank Ferdinand i Sparks). El Festival Internacional comptarà amb un gran cartell . A més a més dels caps de cartell del 16 al 19 de juliol arribaran a Benicàssim artistes com Crystal Fighters, Clean Bandit, LA, Swim Deap, Jamie T, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Kaiser Chiefs, Mark Ronson, Tiga (DJ), Frank Turner & The Sleeping Souls, Timo Maas, Bastille, Public Enemy, The Cribs, Madeon o Mo o A-Trak entre d’altres.
