Jack White is not releasng one album. He’s releasing two. Fear Of The Dawn – which it has already been published- and Entering Heaven Alive will arrive this year, and the first singles have blown our minds. The rawest spirit of The Raconteurs is back. The dagger-like guitar riffs are back. Heavy rock is back, but asymmetrical. It could only be him.
In the history of rock, JackWhite should have a genre of his own. Because neither his solo career nor The White Stripes sound like anything familiar, because that fury and that voice are not punk or garage, they are a personal brand.
The title of the song originates from what Jack White thought the Salvation Army was called when he was a child. White will often take a distinctive phrase he finds interesting and use it as the title of a song. The White Stripes had no bass player, so the popular riff is actually a guitar with an octave effect to sound like a bass.
The song was conceived while The White Stripes toured Australia and was originally recorded in 2002. But wouldn’t find placement on The White Stripes’ discography until their fourth album Elephant arrived with aplomb.
Deap Vally are a rock duo formed in Los Angeles, California, USA in 2011. The group consists of Lindsey Troy (guitar, vocals) and Julie Edwards (drums). In the heart of Silver Lake, California, Edwards met Troy at a needlework class. They bonded over their love of music, specifically the blues and hence, Deap Vallydebuted in 2011 with a primal mix of hard rock and greasy blues riffs, like The White Stripes colliding with the The Black Keys.
After releasing their Digital Dream EP in February, Deap Vally are back with their new album MARRIAGE.
