An indie-pop trio based out of Hartlepool, Mt. Misery was initially a solo venture for songwriter Andrew Smith, before, at the start of 2019, morphing into a full band. The stunning debut album from Mt. Misery reflects a timeless but beautiful heartbreak for fans of Real Estate, Whitney, Teenage Fanclub and Alvvays.

Best Covers: Phoenix ‘No Woman’
After aggressively touring North America in support of last year’s Ti Amo, Phoenix are currently making their way through Europe, Asia, and Oceania. Amidst a trio of dates in Australia this past week, the French outfit swung by triple j radio to contribute a cut to the station’s popular Like a Version series, which has pretty much morphed into the go-to destination for innovative covers. Their cover? Whitney’s “No Woman”.
It’s a bold choice for the electro-rockers, as Whitney’s inimitable country soul is as analog as they come. Phoenix’s take quickens the song’s pulse while swapping out the Chicago band’s melancholic strings and bluesy guitar for warm synths and a crisp beat.
Primavera Sound 2017: el cartell complert
Abans d’hora, quan ningú s’ho esparava; tot i que fa uns dies el festival ens va sorprendre amb un compte enrere, el Primavera Sound ha desvetllat el cartell complert. Al capdavant d’aquest gruixut cartell hi trobem The XX. Els anglesos publicaran el proper mes de gener el seu esperadíssim tercer disc i tot feia suposar que serian en el festival primaverenc i així ha estat. Entre els altres caps de cartell hi trobem Arcade Fire que repeteixen dos anys després i que de moment no semblen massa posats a publicar nou disc. Els altres dos grans noms del festival seran Bon Iver i Frank Ocean que han publicat recentment els seus nous discs. Un dels grans i veterans icones de l’electrònica, Aphex Twin també formarà part d’aquesta capçalera conjuntament amb veterans con Van Morrison i Grace Jones. A més, un gran elenc de bandes i artistes de les quals destaquem Glass Animals, Metronomy, The Growlers, Whitney, Preoccupations, Saint Etienne, Local Natives, !!!, Wild Beasts, Alexandara Savior, Formation, Operator o els King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard entre d’altres.
