The muses of La Musa: Harkin

Having been touring since she was a teenager with both her own bands, and in others, including Sleater-Kinney, Wild Beasts, Flock Of Dimes, and Kurt Vile and Courtney Barnett All of these experiences have informed Harkin’s sound, morphing into an intricate formation of essential alt-rock and experimental alternative

“Body Clock” is the lead outing from Harkin‘s new album, and arrives with a video game-inspired video by Pastel Castle.

Divus Julius presents…Hayden Thorpe

The spilt of Wild Beasts was a knock for fans. Held up as one of British indie’s most individualistic talents, the four boys from Kendal held a mystery that set them apart from the trilby and winkle-picker-wearing hordes of noughties indie boys. At the heart of their appeal was frontman Hayden Thorpe, a whisper-delicate vocalist whose lyrics targeted toxic masculinity and latent sexuality long before such things became regular headlines.

But last month, Thorpe returned from the dead. ‘Diviner’, his debut solo single, is an atmospheric cut of piano-led balladry, Hayden singing of the titular “diviner” like a man discovering a new spirituality. Now, Thorpe has announced a full-length release under that ethereal new guise, also titled ‘Diviner’. A record of “torch songs about intuition, belief and mysticism”, ‘Diviner’ is set for release on May 24 via Domino.

Divus Julius presents…Stereo Honey

Stereo Honey are a four-piece indie band from London, UK – Pete, Ben, Nicky and Jake – who make sultry, free-flowing guitar music with sprinkles of angelic vocals on top. Seemingly springing to life out of nowhere this year with just two singles to their name, the band were swiftly snapped up by the same management as Wild Beasts and Placebo. The band has already made strides into the live arena already, including the very first Community Festival in Finsbury Park. With both online and offline popularity growing steady, the future is looking very bright indeed for this promising new talent.
