Divus Julius presents: Orville Peck

Emerging country musician Orville Peck, who is gay, only appears in public in a cowboy hat and mask, and his voice has earned favorable comparisons to Roy Orbison, Chris Isaak and Elvis Presley.

When listening to the mysterious nomad’s recently debut album Pony, it is clear the dusty roots of country music flows heavily through Peck’s bloodstream. Adopting and expanding upon an outlaw demeanor best illustrated by the likes of Willie Nelson, Loretta Lynn and Waylon Jennings decades ago and more recently, Sturgill Simpson, Peck renders the timeless genre with otherness. Hit of the week: D’Angelo “Unshaken”

D’Angelo’s latest single “Unshaken” has been officially released. The song first appeared on the Red Dead Redemption 2 video game soundtrack.

D’Angelo’s last new music was the 2014 release of his album Black Messiah. Additional contributors to the Red Dead Redemption 2 soundtrack include Willie Nelson, Rhiannon Giddens, Josh Homme, Nas and Daniel Lanois.

Els anys no passen per Neil Young

Neil Young es va unir l’any passat a Promise of the Real, banda formada pels fills de Willie Nelson, per editar el que és el seu àlbum 36è d’estudi, ‘The Monsanto years’(2015), que llança un missatge de crítica oberta al negoci de l’agricultura transgènica i l’agroindústria. Monsanto és l’empresa líder mundial d’enginyeria genètica de llavors i d’elaboració d’herbicides, que des de la seva fundació fa gairebé un segle, no ha deixat de crear controvèrsies unides a la seguretat, salubritat i ètica dels seus productes.

Neil Young presentarà els temes de ‘The Monsanto Years’ en el concert que oferirà al costat de Promise of the Real al Poble Espanyol de Barcelona, però en el ‘setlist’ d’aquesta gira està incloent temes com ‘Old man’, ‘Out on the weekend’, ‘Everybody knows this is nowhere’, ‘After the Gold Rush’ i ‘Harvest moon’, i fins i tot alguna versió de Buffalo Springfield.
